# Quickstart

> Set up your first AI employee, connect a surface, and see real work in a few minutes.

This guide takes you from signing up to watching your first AI employee draft real work. You can do all of it self-serve, for free.

<Note>
  Setup is free. You add a card up front, but your first month's 300 included actions are your trial. Nothing sends to the outside world until you pass the human go-live review.
</Note>

## Step 1: Create your account and add a card

<Steps>
  <Step title="Sign up">
    Go to [app.jobrco.com](https://app.jobrco.com) and create your company account. The first person to sign up becomes the owner, who controls billing and everything else.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a card">
    A card is required up front. You are not charged for setup, and your first 300 actions this month are included. Cancel anytime.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Step 2: Build the company brain

Your employee is only as good as what it knows. Head to `/app/setup` and fill in the basics.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Company profile">
    Say what you sell, who you sell to, and your rough price range.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload documents">
    Add a pricing sheet, an FAQ, a services overview. Your employee will cite these, for example "from pricing.pdf".
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sync your website (optional)">
    Ask Jobr to sync your site so answers stay current.
  </Step>
</Steps>

A "what your employee knows" checklist shows how complete your coverage is. Learn more in [The company brain](/concepts/the-company-brain).

## Step 3: Meet your employee in chat

Open `/app/ai-employees`, pick your employee, and use the **chat** tab. Ask it a few real questions a customer might ask. This is a safe place to test. Nothing here goes to a customer.

## Step 4: Connect a surface

Pick where your employee should work.

  <Card title="Slack" icon="slack" href="/connectors/slack">
    Mention @Jobr for an instant threaded reply, or assign a channel so new messages become drafts.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Gmail" icon="envelope" href="/connectors/gmail">
    Connect with Google. It watches new mail and drafts replies.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

## Step 5: Set the rules

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose an approval mode">
    Start with approve-first so every send waits for your yes. See [Approval modes](/control/approval-modes).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write instructions">
    Tell your employee your tone, your do's and don'ts, and when to escalate to you. Instructions always come first, even in auto mode.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Step 6: Go live

When you are ready, submit for the human go-live review. Jobr checks the setup, usually in under one business day, before any real sending starts. After that, your employee is working.

<Tip>
  Watch the **activity** and **approvals** tabs on your employee for the first few days. Approve, edit, or reject each draft to teach it your style fast.
</Tip>
